When you’re a grandma, you often do things that others might not notice. But that’s okay! Every job has moments like these.
I want to take a moment to say thank you to you, dear Grandma, for all the wonderful things you do for your kids and grandkids.
From all of us in your family, here’s a big thank you for these 10 amazing things that grandmas do, even though they often go unnoticed:
Comforting
Remember how comforting it was to get a hug from your grandma when you were a kid? There’s nothing quite like it, and now you have that same superpower! Your hugs and familiar scent make everything better. And don’t forget, grandmas give the best back rubs!
Helping with money (when needed)
Grandparents sometimes help out with money, even if the grandkids don’t know it. Whether it’s paying for daily needs, a big family trip, or school fees, it’s a big deal. Grandma, thank you for quietly supporting your family like this!
You truly are a real-life superhero.
Giving the best advice
You’ve experienced a lot, so you’re the best person to ask for advice! Whether it’s about problems with friends, parenting, or relationships, Grandma always has wise and helpful suggestions based on her own life.
Cooking tasty meals and baking yummy desserts
I didn’t realize how amazing my grandma’s cooking was until I couldn’t have it anymore. Remember those delicious fried chickens, pot roasts, and cinnamon rolls? Now it’s our turn to cook these tasty meals for our families.
Even though our kids and grandkids might not always say it, what we do is really special. Thank you, Grandma, for all the love you put into every meal!
Praying
I know not everyone shares the same beliefs, but as a Christian, I’ve seen how powerful prayer can be. I include my family in my daily prayers. They may not know they’re being prayed for, but I see the good it does, and I believe it helps them.
Watching the grandkids
Mom and Dad really appreciate your help with watching the kids. Sometimes, they might not see how much work it is, but they are lucky to have you as their trustworthy and loving babysitter. The grandkids might not notice the hard parts either because they are just so happy to have grandma to play with.
Teaching
You might not even realize it, but you’re always teaching those around you. It could be through your advice, how you spend your time, or how you live your life. Sometimes you teach on purpose, like when you share your recipes, teach a hobby, or help your grandchild read.
Spoiling the grandkids
One of your special roles as a grandma is to spoil your grandbabies. Sometimes people don’t notice just how much love and care you put into this until it’s gone. Keep loving those grandkids, Grandma. They may not realize it now, but they know they have a fun and safe place with you.
Telling the best stories
Your experiences also mean you have amazing stories to tell!
Share tales from your childhood and stories passed down from older generations. It might seem simple, but sharing these stories is very important and keeps family history alive for future generations.
Doing all the things
When you’re not busy making your famous cookies, you’re always up to something else. Maybe you’re knitting, quilting, cleaning up, or helping someone who needs it. You’re like Wonder Woman, Grandma!
I know you don’t look for thanks for all you do, but I hope this list shows you how much you are appreciated and loved. Thank you for everything, from your family and your friend, Grandmawise.
