11 Easter Basket Ideas So Unique Your Grandkids Will Think You’re a Genius

Easter is my favorite time of year.

I love what the season means—and I really enjoy the extra time with my family! After church, everyone comes over for a special brunch at my house. Then the grandkids get so excited for their favorite part: the Easter egg hunt!

Along with hosting brunch and planning the hunt, I also like to give my grandkids their own special basket from Grandma. (I just love giving gifts!) I always start with their favorite candy and some fun little toys.

But my favorite part is adding something unique to each basket.

If you want to make your grandkids’ Easter baskets extra special this year, here are some fun and thoughtful ideas to make their day even more “grand”!

1. “Yes Day” Certificate

I just love having a “yes day” with my grandkids! It’s a special day when they get to make the choices, and I say yes (within reason, of course).

For Easter, print or write a certificate that gives your grandchild one full “yes day.” Let them decide what fun things you’ll do together! (I’ve written a full guide on how to plan the perfect “yes day,” so be sure to check it out before you start!)

2. A New Book with a Personal Note

Add a book that matches your grandchild’s age and interests. Whether it’s a fun adventure story, a comic book, or a sweet picture book, it’ll be something they can enjoy again and again. Write a little note on the inside cover from Grandma to make it extra special.

3. Grandma’s Coupon Book

Ready to get crafty? Make a homemade coupon book for your grandchild! Each coupon can be for something fun you’ll do together—like going to the park, bowling, swimming, or baking cookies. Think of them like little IOUs. Your grandchild can “redeem” each one for a fun day with Grandma!

4. Customized Hobby Supplies

No matter what your grandchild loves to do, you can find a fun gift that matches their hobby! Do they like to cook or bake? Get them an apron with their name on it. Do they enjoy arts and crafts? A personalized supply box would be perfect. Have a little fisherman (or fisher-girl) in the family? A custom tackle box will make their day!

5. Scavenger Hunt

This is a fun twist on the Easter egg hunt! You can start by placing the first clue right inside their basket. Let the clues lead them on a fun search around the house or yard. It’s a great way to make the morning even more exciting!

6. DIY Craft Kit

Put together a small kit with everything your grandchild needs to make a fun craft. You could include beads for jewelry, paints and a mini canvas, or even a build-your-own birdhouse set. It’s a great way to encourage creativity—and spend some quality time crafting together!

7. Personalized Picture Gift

My grandkids love seeing photos from our fun times together. That’s why I like turning those pictures into special gifts—like puzzles, photo books, blankets, or even playing cards! Stores like Costco, Snapfish, Shutterfly, and Walgreens make these, and they’re usually pretty affordable too.

8. Camera

Wouldn’t it be fun to see the world the way your grandchild sees it? A camera lets them do just that! Give them a camera and watch what they choose to snap. I especially love the Instax cameras—they work like the old Polaroids and print the pictures right away. Such a fun gift!

9. Memberships

A membership to a local museum, zoo, or aquarium makes a great gift. It gives your grandchild fun places to go and exciting things to learn—without adding clutter. It’s the perfect mix of fun and learning!

10. Subscription Box

Where were these when we were kids? A subscription box is a gift that keeps on giving—it gets delivered every month! There are so many fun ones for kids, like boxes for STEM projects, arts and crafts, or even kid-friendly makeup. Kids love getting mail, especially when it’s something fun. I highly recommend this gift idea!

11. Garden Starter Kit

Spring is the perfect time to plant something new! Include a small pot, soil, and a few seed packets (like sunflowers or strawberries). You can plant them together and watch them grow—just like your love for each other!

No matter what you put in their Easter basket, your grandchild will love it—because it came from you, their special grandma. I hope these ideas inspired you. Wishing you and your family a beautiful, joy-filled Easter! Let’s chat again soon 🙂
