What You Need to Make Moon Rock Cookie Dough Bites

First, you’ll need some edible cookie dough.

I used these Edible Cookie Dough from Amazon, and it worked great! They come in four yummy flavors: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Birthday Cake, and Triple Chocolate. You can eat them straight out of the box!

Next, get three colors of candy melts:

You can switch the pink and turquoise for other fun colors, but make sure to keep the black. It helps the treats look like real moon rocks!

Finally, grab some galaxy-themed sprinkles and gold or silver sanding sugar. These will make your moon rocks sparkle and shine!

Here’s a simple list of the ingredients you need:

  • 1 tablespoon silver sanding sugar
  • 1 container Nestle Funfetti edible cookie dough
  • 1/2 cup bright pink candy melts
  • 1/2 cup turquoise candy melts
  • 1/2 cup purple candy melts
  • 1 1/2 cups black candy melts
  • 2 tablespoons galaxy sprinkle mix

How to Make Moon Rock Cookie Dough Bites

To make Moon Rock Cookie Dough Bites, start by covering a cookie sheet with wax paper. Use a small or medium ice cream scoop to make balls of edible cookie dough and place them on the sheet.

After scooping, roll each ball in your hands to make it smooth and round. One tub of cookie dough usually makes about 10 medium balls. They might be a bit big, so using a small scoop is best. Once all the balls are ready, put the cookie sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes to let the dough get cold.

While the dough is chilling, melt your candy melts in microwave-safe bowls. For the black candy melts, melt the entire 10-ounce bag. It should be smooth and a little runny. If it’s too thick, add a little Candy Melts EZ Thins to make it easier to work with.

For the pink and turquoise colors, melt about half a cup of each in their own bowls. Use the EZ Thins if needed. To melt them, microwave in 30-second steps, stirring each time. It usually takes 2 to 3 minutes.

Next, set up your decorating area. Lay another sheet of wax paper on the counter and place the candy melt bowls side by side. Keep a bowl of galaxy sprinkles and a bowl of silver sanding sugar close by.

Take the cookie dough balls out of the freezer and dip each one into the black candy melts using two forks until it’s fully coated. Then drizzle a little pink and turquoise candy melt over the top using a spoon.

Tap off any extra candy melts on the side of the black bowl—it’s okay if colors mix. Set the decorated dough ball on the wax paper and sprinkle a pinch of galaxy sprinkles and sanding sugar on top right away.

Keep going until all the cookie dough balls are coated and decorated. Let them sit for about 30 minutes so the candy melts can cool and harden. Once they’re ready, store them in a sealed container in the fridge. They’ll stay fresh for 4 to 5 days.
