Where do I even begin to explain the magic I felt when I found out I was going to be a grandma? After my daughter got married, I often dreamed about the day she might have a baby. The thought of being called “Grandma” or “GMa” made my heart so happy.
I was thrilled. Becoming a grandparent felt like such an honor. Not everyone gets that chance, and I knew how lucky I was. I had also heard that being around grandkids helps keep your mind sharp. For me, it has truly been the fountain of youth—thanks to two adorable little boys.
The night I found out my daughter was pregnant is one I’ll never forget. I felt joy that’s hard to put into words. I was so excited, but I also knew there would be challenges ahead. Still, I believed in her strength. She was ready. That night, everything changed for our family. A new chapter had started—one filled with love and new life.
Waiting for the baby to arrive was full of emotion. It was magical. When the big day came and I saw my grandchild for the first time, I felt something deep in my soul. I was completely in love.
The moment I met him, I wanted to hold him, protect him, and be there for everything—every hug, every smile, every milestone. I wanted to be part of it all.
And just when I thought my heart was full, another grandson arrived. At first, I wondered how I could love another child as much as the first. But my heart didn’t divide—it grew! It made room for even more love, forever.
Now, I get to feel the magic all over again.
Honestly, I wish I could have been a grandparent before I was a mom. Being a grandma has taught me something very special—patience. But even more than that, it’s taught me how to enjoy the moment. When I was a mom, I struggled with that. I was too busy with all the things that had to get done each day. I wanted everything to be “perfect,” but now I see that’s not what matters most.
Now, I’m fully present. I’m here. And I don’t want to miss a single moment.
Their hugs, snuggles, and sweet smiles melt my heart every time. The way their faces light up when they see me—it’s the best feeling in the world. Even on my hardest days, they can turn everything around.
We recently went on a trip to Disney—the most magical place on Earth. I’ve been there many times, but this time felt brand new. Seeing it through their eyes made everything more special. I didn’t care about the shows, the rides, or even the characters. I just wanted to watch their faces light up with joy. I listened to every word they said and laughed right along with them.
And I wouldn’t trade a single second of it.
Being a grandparent means something different to everyone. But to me, being a grandparent means…
…playing all day long.
…singing really loud, even if I can’t sing well—and not caring one bit.
…laughing so hard when I hear their sweet baby giggles.
…melting every time I see their little faces.
…missing them when I don’t see them—even if it’s just been one day.
…never feeling like I get enough time with them.
…seeing the whole world in a new way through their tiny brown eyes.
I feel like I’ve won the lottery. These two little buddies are the best gift I could ever get. I am so thankful and happy for this special time in my life.
