Family means everything. The best moments come when we feel that deep family bond in our hearts. As grandparents, one of our biggest joys is giving our love and care to the next generation. They are the future! They’ll carry on the family name and make us proud. And speaking of carrying on names…
Mike Sheff, 63, and his wife, Julie, went to Henrico Doctors Women’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, to meet their new grandson.
The baby was born a few days early, so Jessi Way and her husband, Barrett, had time to pick a name—and keep it a surprise. 🙂
When the proud grandparents walked into the delivery room, Mike’s daughter was resting after giving birth. They looked at the baby with big smiles and full hearts. But it was Grandma who spotted the name tag first—and her reaction said it all!
She tells Grandpa that the baby has a name and points to the name tag. That’s when Mike starts to tear up. The name tag says: Michael Sheff Way.
Jessi chose the name to honor Mike. She used his first name, Michael, and gave the baby Sheff as a middle name—Sheff was her last name before she got married.
What a thoughtful tribute!
Grandpa covers his mouth in shock, and tears fill his eyes. It means so much to him. When Jessi sees how he reacts, she knows she made the right choice.
Her heart fills with emotion too. It’s such a special gift—one that keeps Mike’s name and the family name alive for years to come.
They made sure to capture it on video to remember forever!
