Some relationships are extra special—especially the ones between the very young and the very old. Older people have so much wisdom to share, and little ones give back with their energy and love. When they’re family, that bond can grow even stronger and last a lifetime.

In the video below, we meet a sweet great-grandfather named Jesse, who everyone calls “PawPaw.” For a while, he lived in Houston with his daughter Gina, his granddaughter Ava, and his great-granddaughter Aleida.

But a couple of months ago, PawPaw had to move into a nursing home. He has dementia, and it’s been getting harder for him to remember things. He needed full-time care, so the whole family had to adjust.

Even though he doesn’t always remember everything, PawPaw never forgets Aleida. She’s been close to him since she was just one year old. She used to help him around the house, like a little caregiver. Now that they don’t live together, their visits are even more meaningful.

In this video, Aleida visits him after a long time apart because of COVID-19 rules—and his face lights up the moment he sees her! You’ll also see the sweet surprise when the family picks Aleida up from school and PawPaw is waiting in the car. She had no idea!

These two share a beautiful friendship. No matter what, their bond stays strong—and nothing will come between them. ❤️
