A young girl shared a touching poem about her baby brother who passed away. This first grader wanted to express her feelings, so she wrote a poem to honor him. You can watch the short video to hear her beautiful words. Be sure to have some tissues nearby—it’s very emotional.
Life isn’t always easy. There are happy times worth celebrating, but there are also hard times filled with sadness and pain.
One of the hardest things in life is losing someone you love. People often say, “time heals all wounds,” but that’s not completely true. Time might help a little, but the hurt never fully goes away. The missing piece in your heart stays there.
In a YouTube video, a little girl named Khali talks about losing her baby brother, Houston. She put her love and sadness into a poem. Then she read the poem during her school talent show—and she won first place.
Writing the poem helped both Khali and her mom, Tijinee, begin to heal. While Khali read her poem, her mom listened with tears in her eyes.
“I tried to hold back my feelings,” Tijinee said. “It felt like she was doing something I couldn’t do. It helped me grieve through her.”
Finding ways to share our pain—like writing, talking, or creating something—can help our hearts begin to heal, even during the darkest times.
